Heart of the Woods - R18 Patch 2.1.4, 2.1.3, 2.1.2, 2.1.1.1, and 2.1.1

Here are all the R18 patch-related changes made in Heart of the Woods 2.1.4, 2.1.3, 2.1.2, 2.1.1.1, and 2.1.1!

Changelog for 2.1.4:

• No R18 patch-related changes were made in this version.

Changelog for 2.1.3:

• Merged all changes below.

Changelog for 2.1.2:

• Incompatible R18 content is now prevented from being re-enabled later if the user chooses to bypass the warning.

Changelog for 2.1.1.1:

• No R18 patch-related changes were made in this version.

Changelog for 2.1.1:

New features

• Changed canonical R18 patch location to itch.io.
• Fully rewrote how R18 patch versions are validated for each corresponding game version. R18 patches now have proper version numbers.
• Retroactively assigned proper version numbers to old R18 patch versions, based on their individual unique SHA256 hashes.
• Restored missing nude sprites in the R18 versions of Scenes 4-5H and 5-4H that were previously removed due to technical constraints in older versions of the game. (※ The underwear sprites are still used in the game, however.)
• The game will now verify if certain loose files that were distributed with a very early version of the R18 patch are still present in the game, as having those files present in modern versions of the game will cause underwear sprites to not load correctly.

General improvements and bug fixes

• Fixed a crash that would occur if the user left an old R18 patch installed.
  • ※ NOTE: Outdated R18 patches will still not function correctly. This crash was only fixed in order for the “outdated patch” error message to correctly display at boot, instead of just crashing without a good user-facing explanation.

Localisation improvements and bug fixes

• Restored missing lines for the Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) and Simplified Chinese (简体中文) localisations of Scenes 4-5H and 5-4H.

Changes that affect modders and dataminers

• The “nude” sprite variant for Maddie and Abigail now shows an actual nude sprite, instead of just underwear. The old underwear sprites can be accessed via the “pantsu” sprite variant.
• The old “pantsu” versions of R18 scenes 4-5H and 5-4H can still be accessed using the console cvar “persistent.useLegacyPantsuScenes = True”, and/or by the labels “butterflykisses_pantsu” and “timetoourselves_pantsu”.
• The console variable “showNonCanonicalCutContent = 1” now affects the R18 scenes, too.
